Suzuki develops the V-Strom 800DE

The V-Strom 1050DE will soon have a little brother with the development of the V-Strom 800DE.

This new model gets a 776 cc liquid-cooled parallel twin and produces 83 horsepower and 57 ft-lb. of couple. The motor will be fitted with two gear-driven counterweights to reduce vibration. The V-Strom 800DE will be built with more of an off-road focus in mind, with 220mm of front and rear travel, and a 21-inch front wheel and 17-inch rear wheel; both wheels are spoked and set up for tubulars.

The V-Strom 800DE has a 20 liter fuel tank and a claimed fuel range of an estimated 450 km. Another added touring bonus is the updated electronics on the model, the 5-inch TFT screen is standard and the Suzuki Intelligent Ride System (SIRS) which will include three riding modes and four traction control modes.

The new DL800DE was on display at EICMA this year, we don’t yet know the estimated price or when to expect the new adventure model to hit showroom floors.
